Set in Armenia, Guédiguian 's warm and witty film reunites him with his long time collaborators Ariane Ascaride [his life partner], Gérard Meylan and Jean-Pierre Darroussin.
The ailing Barsam (Marcel Blüwal) disappears back to Armenia when his cardiologist daughter Anna (Ascaride) diagnoses a problem with his heart. She reluctantly travels to this alien country for what becomes a very personal journey of discovery through the land of her father.

Throughout the film Voyage En Armenie, there is a song, it sounds like a Russian pop or rock song that is played but it is NOT on the soundtrack for this film. The song is played on the radio in the taxi when the French lady first arrives at Yerevan airport from France. Her contact in Armenia, asks the taxi driver to reduce the volume when the song is playing. The second time the same song is played at the nightclub later on.
