When Navratilova won her first slam (Wimbledon 78) Margaret Court was almost 36 years old and retired, Billie Jean King was 34 and had made her last slam finals 3 years ago, 3-time slam finals Virginia Wade was 33.

Mandlikova/Sukova lost a combined 27 of 27 matches and 54 of 57 sets against Steffi Graf after Steffi's 17 birthday.

Perhaps I missed being clear in my wording. Martina had to "get through" (instead of "deal with") players who we world-class like Court, King, Wade and Googalong during tdifferent periods in the '70s (and early '80s).

Andrea Jaeger reached #2-3 in the early '80s as a 15-17yr old. Injury and emotional burnout ended her career. Did I answer your question? :)

Don't know about why the Graf v. Seles arguments are posted here. (If Graf had had to deal with a healthy, whole Seles we wouldn't be putting her record above Evert-Navrailova's.) BTW, I think Graf deserves to treat this issue with dispassion today: she's moved on to a quiet, happy life. a Parsche was a monster; and the German legal system was the little monster.

The whole family lacks class.......they are bourgeois thieves and liars. Steffi should have gone to jail with her father for fraud, obstruction of justice, and tax evasion.....After all, her accountant testified that she ABSOLUTELY KNEW that Graf enterprises was not paying full tax.....

And Graf is a coward...she won't grant interviews if she is asked about her rivalry with Seles or the stabbing....what a coward.
