that venue in cotati was the inn of the beginning. what a great club that was. i was in a band that opened for them at the lakeport fairgrounds in '74. it was a great experience for me

Her voice is captivating and she is really into the song..rest of the band sounds good too...another recording I need to track down.

Isn't that SAL VALENTINO on lead guitar and sharing lead vocals with Diedre?

@mickonmount Yes, thanks for the update. She was a fantastic singer....actually mesmerizing. I saw her on stage in a small venue in Cotati .... it was not just her looks, but the way she carried herself onstage---and her voice. I cannot get enough of this video ... been watching it for over a year now! I wish I had more. Thanks again.

so sorry to hear this "news". so many wonderful memories with this quintessential "gotta-see-them-in-concert" band, with deirdre's unique voice and stage presence such a key. thanks for sharing this update. peace.
-
her name was actually spelled deirdre....laporte....when the original "stoneground" that recorded the "family album" and others...broke up in the early 1970's...deirdre moved to santa fe, new mexico...where i met and married her....she was the mother of two children...who both live in the san francisco bay area....her son is an engineer...and her daughter has a doctorate in psychology...and is in private practice....deirdre died....in 1996...after a long battle with breast cancer.

I saw them in ben loman

I liked them since the first time I saw them in Chico. Great memories !Thanks

A wonderful band. I saw them 4 or 5 times around 1971, 1972. Their 1st album was a killer. They sound as good today as the 1st time I heard them live. Live was great. Annie Sampson, Diedre La Porte, Lynn Hughes and Lydia Phillips.
