  • Why are they using steel sleepers? Does this mean it's just a temporary track, or for goods only?

    Is this the original junction of the Waverely route?

  • @Strawberry7Lynn steel sleepers seems to be the preferred choice these days - maybe its a cost thing? As for route, the original Waverley rouite went straight ahead here through Millerhill yard then turned right towards Dalkeith - this is a deviation to encompass a proposed new town called Shawfair, it will rejoin the original route about a mile further south after passing under the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass.

  • great to see work getting on, would love to see some off the old traction that once dominated this route back again.

  • It's like a giant train set. All's thats needed are fishplates and a controller.
