The Bush tax cuts were given because the government had a surplus but it went far beyond using the surplus up. We can't continue to spend 62 billion dollars a year on tax cuts to the rich.

I should also point out to you that historically its was not just people on the Libertarian Conservative side that called for lower marginal tax rates but also people on the left including Keynes himself and FDRs own treasury secretary Andrew Mellon.

Dont forget previous Democratic administrations likethe Kennedy and even the Wilson years as well, back then Democrats did not play class warfare with rich people like they do now.

Spending is not the answer to Americas problems, they need to CUT spending by trillions including cuts to the military and Entiltement reform needs to happen as well, that includes ending medicare benefits for millionaires, allowing people the option of opting out of social security, possibly raising the retirement age in America and of course privitising social security because social security is a ponzi scheme.

of course no politician has the guts to do any of these things.

Firstly raising the top marginal tax rates or as you lefties call it '['paying thier fair share'' does not bring revenue.

Let me give you some facts:according to the CBO historic tables when Reagan decreased the top marginal rate from 71 to 30 per cent revenue INCREASED

In 1981 revenue for the Fed government was 885 billion

By 1990 revenue increased to 1.93 trillion so GDP increased from 31.8 per cent in 1980 to 33.2 per cent in 1990.

Stop the Bush tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans. If REPUBLICANS don't vote for the President's tax plan, please VOTE THEM OUT.

If you look at history, after the Great Depression of the 30's, spending was necessary to climb out of the financial disaster. President Carter cut spending due to a mild recession when he was in office and it did finally came through after Reagan took office but people really suffered and thought Carter was disconnected. As long as the Bush tax cuts are taking money out of circulation by padding rich bank accounts, the only solution is to print more money.

To me, it doesn't seem balanced to cut Medicare and Medicaid when so many of the working class have already lost their homes, their IRA retirement savings, and their jobs. Now, the media is saying the price of milk is set to skyrocket if congress doesn't act on the Farm Bill. Now republicans will want to hold milk for babies hostage until they get a $50,000 tax bonus, or say it's the cost of doing business but farmers have already said the price will be far above what it costs them to produce.
