Film Description: Edward Zwick returned to the director's chair for the first time since 1998's The Siege with this sweeping period drama set in 19th-century Japan. After centuries of relying on hired samurai for national defense, the Japanese monarchy has decided to do away with the warriors in favor of a more contemporary military. Tom Cruise stars as Nathan Algren, a veteran of the U.S. Civil War who is hired by the Emperor Meiji to train an army capable of wiping out the samurai. But when Algren is captured by the samurai and taught about their history and way of life, he finds himself conflicted over who he should be fighting alongside. Billy Connelly, Tony Goldwyn, and Ken Watanabe co-star.

  • True fact: There's no historical evidence that ninjas (which BTW, "ninja" is not a japanese word, it's the Chinese pronounciation of the Kanji characters for "shinobi", their REAL name) actually wore black. They usually infiltrated as vagrant workers in peasant clothing, and usually did little infiltration beyond what work allowed and various methods of sabotage. Besides, mottled gray clothing works better than black in the dark, it breaks up the silhouette in shadows better.

  • Even Bob kicked some ass!

  • The repeatedly saving of fellow warriors' lives in action movies is so cliche...yet so hypnotizing...

  • Konya ga Yamada!!!!!

  • @aclock2 Lol good point xD

  • A shitload of ninja infiltrate and they did not have a clue. The guard men should be all executed.

  • Samurai vs ninja. As cool as they are ninja have no chance against such a disciplined opponent

  • @omegagilgamesh

These ninja's aren't peasants thou. According to their apparel, i'd say they are part of the army.

  • I absolutely love the last part of this scene --- Unity at its best!

  • Hope the FAT BONUS CATS have protection like this
