Hey gadolinium158, you probably do more damge to the earth everday than us rockhounds could due in a week. Relax a little bit and dont bs people about the way they live. We dont bs you. Great vid by the way. Sorry for the rant.
You are right conan568, also, for many of us, looking in the dirt and breaking rocks is an innate desire, and it is hard to fight it. God gave us this earth to enjoy, & that rock hounding, is really enjoyable.
This hobby disgusts me. Us today are supposed to be stewards of the earth, tending it and healing the scars of past generations. We shouldn't at all be contributing to the destruction of our planet.
2000 years ago no body collected minerals and mining was not understood and reserved for slaves. So...ummm...2000 years too late? Did you miss out on your calling as a slave mining asbestos in greece? I'm confused.

Ahahaha you are disgusted by a sledge and chisel?
If you want to be a steward of the earth go to school for geology or ecology or forestry.

You can't be serious.
Minerals are used to produce almost everything.
They're in your kool-ade and tin-foil, ice-cream and all paper products.
Name a product and there's a very good chance minerals were used to produce it, or are a component.
Without minerals, you wouldn't be browsing the web, because there wouldn't be a web, or computers.
No cars, no concrete no nothing.
