George Peppard must have had a Q rating through the roof. Yet his whole career is littered with nothing but B movies and only 2 1/2 TV series. After "BANACEK", he starred in the moderately-rated but horrid "DOCTOR'S HOSPITAL" which was so bad even he couldn't stand it and he quit after thirteen weeks.
Kids, whatever you do, don't drink and smoke to excess. Or argue with your boss or else you can't play Blake Carrington either for nine very lucrative years.
Years later came his greatest role for which he is known and much-beloved...Space Cowboy! "My people believe that no life ends until all the lives that it has touched are ended; until all the good that it has done is gone." George Peppard 1928-1994 R.I.P.
Terrific series, should have run a lot longer. I've always thought "Banacek" was to Peppard what "Rockford Files" was to James Garner--the role that fit him like a glove.

@mrtelevision I remember her as a blonde cop on "Outlaws" with Rod Taylor, Richard Roundtree, and Bill Lucking. Would her character on "Banacek" be considered a fall-back for Banacek if he couldn't find a date?

Banacek was the star among all the midweek NBC mystery movies.
A third season was planned but Peppard decided not to do it as he was in the midst of a divorce and did not wish to share the profits with his soon to be ex, or so the story goes.
