Sounds like he told lies for the good of our nation which is.much better than the leaders we have now that lie to cover the tracks of sick money hungry people and worry about controlling our people and others.... Not good !!

Washington was the ONLY of the Southern slaveholding founders to free his slaves. Thomas "all man are created equal" Jefferson died so badly he in debt he could not. And Hamilton did write most of the Address.

@ZephonTLucifer Then we agree in the end. All men are greatly flawed.

@jbranstetter04 Ah okay then. I sort of obsessed with Washington for about 6 years so while i have great respect for him - I know he was greatly flawed.
-
@ZephonTLucifer Maybe we have a misunderstanding here. I know Washington as on honorable man, so when you said that he told "many lies", I assume that you are saying that in a negative way, so I ask for examples. Then I find that he lied about his military strength etc to the enemy, which is a good thing that every General would do to win a war. I don't actually recall these things, but I'm sure they were in the books that I read about him. He was a great man.

@jbranstetter04 Why are you so rude???? How is it I have to give bloody examples why don't read the material yourself?? He lied about the number of forces he had purposely to make the red coats believe they had a force worth engaging in - when in reality his men were deserting left and right, dying of disease or freezing to death. He even doctored supply books to make it look like they were feeding a great army of men. Im running out of room - but he lied and a lot for various reasons.

@ZephonTLucifer If I read "Life of George Washington", is that the title? I've only read a 1600 page biography of him and a few smaller books, so I do not know it all. You state that he told "many lies", so tell me two of them that are of significance.
-
@jbranstetter04 If you read his letters, and life of geroge washington as well as some books on his involvement with the revolution you'd find that not only did he tell many lies - he was fascinated by spying.
-
@ZephonTLucifer Sorry for insulting you. It won't happen again. Tell me your reference for him telling many many lies. I have not read of this.
Happy Birthday to George Washington. Though he was born on the 11th, the 22nd is his birthday.
