Danny C. in K.C.; 1st clip (electric mandolin) is from a Sunday afternoon, late summer '05; then a clip recorded at home 12-25-05 (acoustic mandolin); more from the Sunday at Plaza footage (mandolin and guitar/keys/vocal); &, finally the clip (guitar/vocal excerpt) from a weekend night's performance early fall-ish '05. The acoustic mandolin is from a set of recordoings which began around midnight a.m. 12-25-05, after playing and recording all night and into broad day light (didn't see Santa either - DARN! (ha)). The instrumental mandolin tunes are old faves: the Mobster flick theme song; Somewhere My Love & Big Balls in Cowtown(main riff from it). The Aerosmith tune, is a laid-back version, late in the night's set, with low-tuned guitar after a weekend full of strenuous singing and demandng instrumentation, and of doing well enough, gratiosa-wise, in those efforts to just coast that puppy in, from that point to the soon to follow end of the set (including foldable entities from the sit-in singers shown, occuring earlier in the encounter) so, thus the falsetto & less tense tuning, both are old tricks of the trade (to save a voice and reduce tension on hand and wrist joints). I still like the guitar feel on this rendition, though I have recorded adaptations of it at standard 440 tuning, and with vocals closer to the conventional - radio - version of it, more so on just-audio, filed away somewhere. Sidenote: Steve Tyler has sat in impromptu on a performance of mine in the Plaza 2002 fall. As have Zakk Wild; Wallflowers and Ben SImms former Detroit Wheels member, at various performances, the latter three described were in Westport during the 90's. Naturally, as Murphy's law would dictate, I didn't have video in the cases of the earlier incidents. I did at least own video by the time of the latter, Tyler encounter, but it was either not functional at that time, or was not in tow on the night. I seem to recall him coming through on a week night of a so-so week. One where I had to bear down in order to make enough money, and thus, fussing with camera equipment becomes inpractical dealing with the time restraints involved in having to set up and catch the crowds while they're there - whether that video equipment was working or not.
