I went to a live taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me tonight. In all honesty, I've never behaved like such a fangirl in my life. It was a lot of fun.
This clip shows Carl having to remake his "GGGGOOOOAAAALLLLL". Yup, the taping is live, yet the show when aired would have already been edited. It's very interesting to see them doing the retakes. I am actually kind of upset that I failed to capture the first "GGGOOOOAAAAALLLL" that Carl did. He must have gone on for a minute (? It felt like forever) and the audience was screaming and whooping and pumping our fists (ok maybe I was the only one that did the fist pumping...) His face turned red towards the end, my friend and I were so worried that he was going to pass out!
That was Paula Poundstone asking what we were all wondering.
This vid will probably of no interest to anybody but me who will be reliving this awesome experience through this clip. Thank you YouTube!
@Evilmeteors THAT ROCKS! Thank you so much for telling me. Yes, the audience was very impressed. I was worried a little that he might, you know, stop breathing or something. Glad that they decided to use the original clip. How often do you hear Carl do that?! ;-)

Hi, I listened to the WWDTM podcast, and I figure by your description that the bit that made the show was the original and not any of the retakes. It went on for a full 25 seconds! Very impressive and you could hear the audience's appreciation.
