Well race is a socially constructed idea so there would be no scientific bases necessarily. BUT from my understanding of racism and how it has been (and continues) applied to society, is that racism is "a system of advantage based on race". Look it up and go past the dictionary's defition which does not go in depth. (After look at who made dictionaries and put so many negative connotations with the word black but that's another story)
