One needs a natural calling to be great at something. It lies within everyone. But many talented people lack the internal focus to accomplish things beyond the good and into the astounding. "Every Single Day of My Life" should be the most important thing you take from this commercial.

Michael, It's your fault that I don't watch basketball anymore.

Having jumping ability certainly helps, but I think that his "god given gift" is his competitiveness to become the best basketball player, phil jackson even said he was competitive in everything he did on and off the court. Even at the height of his career he still had that drive that got him there that a lot of players lose, but if your arguing that some people have more fast twitch muscle then others or longer reach and height then I agree with you.

I'm a skinny, 5'9 white guy. There is no possible way (even with steroids and vigorous training) that I will ever run 100m in less than 10 seconds or jump 48 inches vertically. It just isn't physically possible. Michael Jordan is a better basketball player than me for a number of reasons (better shooter, dribbler passer etc.) but the fact that he can jump probably twice as high as I can makes it a hell of a lot easier for him to dominate

I know that Michael Jordan worked hard. I fully understand he may have been one of the hardest working athletes ever. The way he improved his 3 pointer and mid range jump shot mid career however, it certainly helps to have a ridiculous vertical jump. He has a good work ethic but he also has the "god given gift" that he practically denies having in this video

Actually, work hard and it'll come. You think Michael Jordan just stood up one day and jumped the 48 inches? That's stupid. You think he just got good at basketball out of no where? You work for it before it's too late. Time plays a roll, and so does patience.. Usain Bolt has been training for ages, as with every other athlete.

@Mc Lovin...Larry Bird was one of the most un-athletic basketball players, wasn't fast, couldn't jump, but he is considered one of the best basketball players of all time because he had a high basketball IQ,had competitiveness, and practiced everyday of his life. He didn't need a 48" vertical or an excuse to become one of the greatest of all time.

Bullshit. You don't understand how muscles work if you think that any old person can just workout and jump 48 inches. That's pre-determined in the genes. Could I also run faster than Usain Bolt if I trained hard enough? no

Maybe he worked for that vertical jump. You can get there, but you're just making excuses.
