Counterfeit Sony Handycam on eBay

You don't see counterfeit items often on eBay, but this one immediately stood out to me. The real Sony Handycam DCR-HC90 is a very high quality MiniDV tape camcorder from 2005 -- still worth over $300 today -- but this imitation is a really cheap Chinese flash memory camera that I wouldn't even give to a child to play around with. It has the Sony logo falsely printed on the case and on the manual, as well as a really cheesy fake price sticker.

That's a lot of money! The "E" on the end just means it is the European PAL version. Otherwise it is exactly the same.

A few other things I want to point out, first, if it were a real Sony flash based camcorder, it would used Sony Memory Stick, not SD. Also, you point out in the description that they say it "Works great" but the ebay page clearly indicates "New In the Box" if it was new in the box, how would they know that it "Works great"

Actually Sony has just begun to support SD cards on their new "Bloggie" camcorder, but anything other than that is definitely Memory Stick-only.

husband brought this home tonight and I knew something was wrong with it when I saw the peel off SONY label, same price sticker $789.99! The manual is a cheap paper generic with ink stamp "sony"...lol. OMG I didnt even know they made counterfeits! Good thing he did not pay the guy yet, cuz its going right back.
