Holts generally make truly great ales. I like the Maple Moon much because there is no overpowering taste, it reveals a complex flavour acheived through careful hopping. I certainly have no hesitation in describing it as artisan. If I was to choose to drink only one ale for the next 20 years, this would be it. If I was to choose one brewery, it would be Holts.

@TheBeebopper After thinking long and hard about this beer afterwards I think it was the mix of Cascade and Maple which makes this for me a GREAT ale. This would make my list of desert island beers too, cheers

I'm going to have to get another bottle of this. Tried it about 3 years ago and thought it was utterly vile. It was watery and just didn't taste right. Clearly a duff bottle. Probably going to have to go back and try a lot of the beers I tried when I first discovered real ale, as I seemed to have had a fair few duff bottles!

Best maple beer I've had is one from Canada: Rickards Dark. It is BEAUTIFUL!
