It just occurred to me that some of the younger folks might not get the "Bicentennial Moment" thing, so here goes. Throughout 1976, CBS aired a series of PSA-style ads, called "Bicentennial Moments," intended to teach a little American history. Each was opened with an eagle flying across/through the screen. They were pretty much universally hated, though; this was Match Game's parting shot, effectively giving the bird the bird.

I wish it was 1976 again.

I don't, I was 3.
There's no way I'd ever want to be 3 agaiALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD

Of course, the bird is a figurine, not a real animal because the assistant announcer voices the clucking chicken voice, that's the info of the Match game 76-77 bird.

That does explain a lot. :) I was only 2 months old or so when this initially aired. I was born on nov 7th 1976
