@Byrds1967- That knob is a 5th control "blender" knob, which allows you to get a better blend between the neck and bridge pickups. On the "toaster top" pickups, they had such a low gain, that they needed this type of blend for them to be heard.

Man this guitar has a large knob at the end like his signature edition Rickenbacker. But it's not a 3-pickup model. He gets some rare guitar configurations. You can't pin this man down.
