James Barbour and Marla Schaffel of the original 2000 Broadway production in a performance of 'Sirens' at the Tony Awards. http://www.songsfromthemusicals.com
@damiaelrichmusic Aww, well it was very brief! I used to be super shy about talking to people after shows (now I ALWAYS want to!), so I just smiled really big and said, "GOOD JOB!" He's a great singer, and just, well, a very delicious man. :-D
Yeah, I hear him going off-key too but I still love him and this musical! I understand how the amount of practicing should have drilled the correct key in their heads but you know, we all go off-key sometimes. :) And it's a different venue, so that probably didn't help. It's very obvious that the orchestra is a bit too quiet.
@MyWay2Broadway Aaaah you're lucky to have met him! He's my favorite singer!
@shivaree1025 Most people wouldn't have picked up on that, however. Cast recordings are not always available while a show is still running its original cast, and are often not what people base ticket purchases off of, if they are. It is a wonderful show (and one of my absolute favorites), but lacking in glamor for the casual theatergoer; coupled with sub par advertisement, up-and-coming leads, and oft-adapted material...that was the big ouch, unfortunately. :(
Love James Barbour- think he's brilliant, but he was definitely off pitch! (He was a tiny bit flat at 1:22, and their timing was off at 1:52 compared to the OBC recording, and she was off at the end...) Since they are performing in a different venue, etc, it is harder. They couldn't hear the orchestra! It was unfortunate because it did not help ticket sales and the show closed earlier than expected....
I simply adore this. They are both amazing, and this proves it. I saw James Barbour in Camelot a few years ago... My Mom and I ran into him after the show, and we both said, "you did a good job!" He smiled, thanked us, and had to keep moving. He's quite tall in person. :-D
How did I miss this!!! Granted I was only 13 at the time but I blame my 13 year self for not being more in tune with Broadway!

Loved this show- loved it more with Anthony Crivello... Marla is luminous, though..
