Hey Seth it could be the Ativan that causes your depression episodes. Benzo's do that to me and it took me a while to realize what was causing me to have episodes of depression. Ask your Dr.

Hey Seth! It could be your ativan that causes your depression episodes. Benzo's do that to me and it took me a while to realize what was causing my wierd depression episodes. Ask your Dr. and also see if the depression seems to happen same day as taking ativan or within a couple of days after taking ativan.

Actually, I don't take ativan very often. One of the things I worry about is physical dependency, which is common with the benzos. So I only take them in an emergency or if I know I'm gonna face a tough outing or situation. Even when I do take them, I take only half, just enough to take the edge off. I take maybe 2 half doses on average per month. I can rule that out as a cause of the depression episodes. It seems to be more directly related to how my anxiety's been and how I feel about it.

And the depression doesn't usually even last a full day. But when it comes, it comes like a ton of bricks. If I've had a bad week with anxiety for example, that's when the depression usually comes, at the end of that bad week. It's my mind wondering when the anxiety will end and feelings of hopelessness. Luckily it doesn't linger for too long.
