This is a 30 second commercial spot from Barry Minkow and his Zzzz Best Carpet cleaning company. I used to work for Barry and Zzzz Best as a manager before the down fall of the carpet cleaning empire. In late 1985, one of Minkow's longtime friends suggested that becoming a public company would solve most of Minkow's cash shorts; up to that time the company had existed from payroll to payroll. Minkow liked the idea, seeing it as a way to fulfill his ambition of making ZZZZ Best "the General Motors of the carpet-cleaning industry".

  • Jordan hired me as well. I was the first employee at the San Jose store. I was hired in Hayward and then transfered after a week. I had a carpet cleaning business for 20 years after that in Michigan.

  • @Videofro810 How long did you work in San Jose? I wonder if you were still there when I showed up about 6 months after it opened to be the manager.

  • my dad jordan worked for zbest too

  • Jordan hired me after he opened up the Sacramento office.

  • Yes they did a awesome job, they had a lot of money to send us to school, and also their own training. Each day a new method of cleaning was demoed to us, and the big classes were in the corporate office, or trade shows.

  • 0:11 = Those two guys were on Kitchen Nightmares. They own a restaurant called Capri at Eagle Rock, California.

  • @huey31415 They didn't clean a single carpet!!

  • "Minkow's outstanding monetary debt remains with Union Bank of California, with principal and interest totalling around $19 million (USD). Minkow pays up to 30% of his $68,500 yearly salary to the bank."

This jerk is still a crook, he shorts stocks in companies, then spreads rumors so the stock goes down, then makes huge profits. Incredibly, it's legal but totally unethical and immoral. Minkow's one of the biggest con men around, he should've never gotten released from prison.

  • You know I think I met you once. I came back to get my briefcase a week after I quit and you were just starting. If you were the manager after (Mr.) Walker. My name is Jeff Vaughn by the way.

  • I know the company was a big scam, but did they actually do a good job of cleaning carpets?
