This method is no good anymore and I don't even use it. Check my other videos on using ffmpeg to accomplish the same thing but in a much better way.

  • *sarcasm*Thank you for explaining what your doing*/sarcasm*

  • @commodore256 Actually this method is completely deprecated now that ffmpeg devs have perfected the x11grab input function. See my other videos for details.

  • This method is outdated now. I've been using ffmpeg x11grab which gives greatly improved results at a fraction of the CPU usage and also doesn't require JACK and works perfectly with Pulseaudio. Maybe I'll make a short screencast example video.

  • Nice tutorial, but this is actually overly complicated. You don't need JACK at all to record audio streams from webpages, just Pulseaudio and its Volume Control package.

  • That is true, however your audio will go out of sync if capturing for a long time, like capturing a video for example. I use ffmpeg x11grab now anyways, much better results, doesn't require JACK either.

  • Pulseaudio works just fine for me, but I can't get the hang of JACK at all. Any tips to make it work?

  • JACK is not hard to setup. I recommend searching the ubuntuforums for tutorials on it.

  • @electra Then what's the point? It's like all of the tutorials on how to play portal on OSX using the Windows version of Steam.
