Rocky Marciano vs Ezzard Charles II - Refuse To Lose

Rocky Marciano defends his Heavyweight Championship of the world against Ezzard Charles after defeating Charles in a 15 round unanimous decision in their first meeting. Charles became the first and only man to go 15 rounds with Marciano, and Rocky tries to settle the score with a knock out in the rematch. This fight is the famous nose split incident - in the 6th round an elbow split Rocky's nose in two in the 6th round. Ross Hodges does the commentating and refers to Marciano as "looking like a Halloween character," and "sort of resembles as Gargoyle."

After the 7th round Marciano was in grave danger of having the fight stopped. Louis and Peter Marciano say Rocky Marciano insisted for another round. For whatever reason Rocky Marciano got another round, probably because he was the defending Heavyweight Champion. Marciano needed to Knock Out Charles in the 8th round or he would probably lose his championship. With an unrelenting fury, Rocco Francis Marchegiano roars at Ezzard Charles with a ferocious determination. In the later stages of the 8th round, Rocky Marciano Knocks Out Ezzard Charles. It was possibly the closest Rocky Marciano ever came to losing.

Also, you have to keep in mind that Rocky's dream was to play baseball. He kinda just fell in to boxing so to speak and look where his resolve got him. Anyone who doesn't respect him is crazy end of story. Ali knew he was a monster, Bert Sugar knew he was a monster and any educated, unbiased fan knows he was a monster. Technically proficent...not so much but not as bad as some thing. Plus he had the power, heart, stamina and ferociousness to make him dangerous to anyone.

amazing heart in this one, that injury was absolutely grotesque quite literally nearly severed his nose , he knew he wouldnt last 15 rounds and the ref would have stopped the fight if it reopened so he knew he had to knock him out fast, that my friends is the mark of a true champion; know what you gotta do and get it done no matter what, thats why the Rock was so great just had the biggest will to win ever, cant understand all the bickering on the board you gotta respect Rcoky end of story

@globalsbc look at some of the guys who tyson could ko tillis mitch green took him 10 rounds to stop ribalta and look at his fight with mathis jr somone smaller than him marciano is the same size but it shows small guys who can slip punches give tyson trouble also after 7 rounds tyson only ever kod one guy ribalta and that was tko tyson never gotup from a knockdown and won a fight marciano did also tyson never put somone to sleep with a single shot he put williams and tubbs down but not asleep
