i just began reading music. im on lesson 3 or 4 in syncopation and im almost ready to move on to dotted 8ths but my instructor is on vacation lol. id like to surprise him and show him i wasnt on vacation while he was gone lol.. so bare with me-im new lol
when u say a dotted 8th equivalent of three 16th notes held as one note- u mean like a roll? i really dont think i no how to count halfs either. im gonna look for a video of urs for counting 8ths- i hope im doin rite

it sounds like ur counting the dotted's as 1 uh 2 uh 3 uh 4. wudnt that b how u count regular 8ths? is there anyway u can play some dotted eith notes and regular 8ths with a metronome on a video for me?

@dylster21502 Thanks for watching. The dot after the 8th note contains half the value of the previous note. So, (a dotted 8th) would be the equivalent of three 16th notes held as one note. Does that make sense?
