Would people just leave other people alone?! If some one wants to say "prayed to a God that I do/don't believe in", LET THEM SAY IT. Which ever one they decide to say does not concern you at all. just listen to the song.

Another point that I'll like to state is thay yes, I now understand where he's lyrics are coming from, but personally for me, when I'm in depression, I am closer to God rather being frustrated at Him. So I'm changing the lyrics so it can work for me.
There's nothing wrong with him.

Believing in God doesn't automatically make me a Christian, so no I can't go back to reading the Bible b/c I'm not Christian :)

@eastafricanbreeze It sounds like you need more security in your own personal beliefs because your announcing the fact you have to change lyrics of a song to suit you're personal beliefs. The lyrics are like that for a reason, it's too show true depression as he's "Falling to pieces" over love. He has lost faith in love and therefore lost faith in God "for God is love" - Genesis. Maybe less bible and more open mindedness wouldn't hurt eh?

The reason why he says "praying to a God that I don't believe in" is because he's being forced into a something he has no faith in, simply to make others happy. By doing so betrays his own true beliefs. It's a part of him "falling to pieces"; more a metaphor than a literal religious statement.

@JoyCor1031 that totally takes away the point of what he was trying to say. He was saying he was in such a horrible state, it feels like praying is useless if the "god" will allow this to happen to him. read into the meaning
