  • I am thrilled to find this amazing adaptation! Edward Dmytryk with any one of these actors would be plenty, but all of them together makes for a landmark of cinema. Thankyou !!!

  • hate english people doing us accents

  • I do not get the relationship with HALLIE & the madame?

  • Nothing like these fifties movies..

  • Fonda definitely steals film in this pedestrian example of Southern Gothic in the vein of Inge and Williams. Standout is Bass's credit design and Bernstein's main theme, though some of his underscore is rather trite (the fight scene in the Doll House). Kitty's father should have taught her the virtues of Grace, Attitude, and Faith; in others words, Geeeeeee Aaaaaaaa Efffffffffffff. I say that Fondly. Someone noticed John Anderson preaching to Marian Crane & typed him as the preacher here.

  • politics/schmolitics, jane fonda is one goddamn sexy bitch!!! man-o-man-achevitz.

  • I've been looking for this for such a long time!! Thank you SO, SO much for uploading :D

  • Barbara Stanwyck did a great job of portraying a bitter, old, worn out hag.

  • "You're crazy--always getting hungry like you was a millionaire". --Best line in the movie. Jane Fonda was great in this role. It's actually her best movie. Too bad she became a commie ass kisser.

  • This was off the hook! I was looking up John Fante's screen credits when I found this. What a gem. I'm curious about the novel now and how much of the dialog was Fante's style, or if it was just a perfect fit. The legless patriarch next to Jo's control and Halley's sexuality against Dove's dreams was killer!
