The holographic principle is a physical property of quantum gravity theories, proposed by Gerard 't Hooft and Leonard Susskind, which resolves the black hole information paradox. It has been given a precise mathematical formulation within string theory, largely as a result of Susskind's work. The principle states that the description of a volume of space should be thought of as encoded on a boundary to the region, preferably a light-like boundary like a gravitational horizon. For a black hole, the principle states that the description of all the objects which will ever fall in is entirely contained in surface fluctuations of the event horizon. In a larger and more speculative sense, the theory suggests that the entire universe can be seen as a two-dimensional information structure "painted" on the cosmological horizon, so that the three dimensions we observe are only an effective description at low energies. Cosmological holography has not yet been made mathematically precise, partly because the cosmological horizon has a finite area and grows with time.

  • I would like to perceive myself in a Lambo....sic

  • @Gomanzy jesus is a hologram

  • Only a comedian like Bill Hicks can give the best interpretation of reality.

  • @majorcon1 I don't think you're ugly. I think you're beautiful and so should you. When you feel you're beautiful, so shall you be...

  • The notion of the "Holographic Universe" is not woo-woo, or metaphysics. It is a scientific theory based on realism. The version of HU here is just a lot of silly nonsense.

  • @version191

I agree. The thing that bothers me is that there is never any learning. I have been hearing this (wrong) crap for 20 years.

  • Thank you, and now I am leaving your planet for ever for no riason !!

  • When we say something is real we don't mean Its Really Fuckin' Real Like On An Abstract Place Of Existence Or Whatever Man. To say something is real is just to say it has certain perceptible properties. These people don't understand how words are used and constantly allude to an omnipotent view that fundamentally contradicts their first assumption. This is just a really shitty version of Platos cave allegory

  • Well Are All Interconnected (In a completely trivial way that only an idiot would find significant) Man

  • when i was a kid, i couldn't understand why the picture from camera gives the exact same thing we see with our eyes
