City of Victoria Staff Explains Anti-camping Bylaw Amendment

On September 2, the City of Victoria approved two readings for a by-law amendment that would prohibit overnight camping on medians and boulevards in the City of Victoria. The meeting was attended by over 60 members of the public.

The amendment, which deals with traffic safety, responded to public concerns that the City said had been raised to them by residents and business owners regarding public safety and motor vehicle accidents.

Council voted 7-1 in favour of the amendment .
