The Jazz Arts Trio (http://www.frederickmoyer.com/jazzartstrio.php) plays "Billy Boy" as originally performed by the Red Garland trio, from the Columbia album "Milestones." JAT personnel: Fred Moyer, piano; Peter Tillotson, bass; Peter Fraenkel, drums. From a live performance at the Wayland Little Theater Concert Series 12/5/08, Wayland, MA.
Jazz Arts Trio's CD, "Tribute" is available at https://www.jrirecordings.com/view_details.php?recording_id=24
I really hate that they just copied the song from Milestones, instead of taking the theme and soloing themselves. There is no essence of jazz in this one and it's simply sad to see musicians copying instead innovating.
