The early promise of this race was good: Bob Wollek had the lead on lap 2, Roger Dorchy got it back on lap 3.

But then the WM Secateva P83B suddenly turned left into the barrier under braking for Mulsanne, knocking off the front bodywork.

He made the pits eventually, where the cure for the braking problem which caused the 'off' took more than a dew minutes to find.

  • Well it is a Peugeot...

  • why...I ask WHY dis those coener marshalls go running out to the scene to wave a friggen flag. what, just what does that accomplish???? makes you the incident as well!!!

  • Vern's Porsche was hammering away at Roger as well, This was a great 4 car battle at that point

  • This great driver was so unlucky! He had a brake problem... Bad memories for the recordman.

  • These things happen in Motorsport. One moment, you've got a position and really pushing hard, the next your off in the ditch or in the wall, and your cahnces are dashed. Better luck next time...

  • Such a shame for a French powered car at a French race
