cool that people are re-discovering billy murray, who was one of america's biggest singing stars for 25 years -- from turn of the century to mid-20s. murray demonstrated well-tuned vocal clarity with an endearing colloquial enthusiasm -- people just loved whatever he performed, and some believed a song was not really "done" until murray did it.

@ImpendingChocolate No, it would A) play way too fast (these older style machines only played at ~78 RPM, while modern vinyls play at 33 1/3 RPM and 45 RPM) and B) ruin the record with all that weight on the disc.
