It's a free-to-air HD Channel, but to get it for free you need either a Sky+HD box (You don't need a subsciption to view it) or a Freesat HD Box.

well considering that the majority of the BBC's funding now comes from the BBC Worldwide merchandise arm, and if they don't do trailers then many people won't be aware of the news shows they're spending their money on then they've every right to.
ITV and C4 already get a cut of the licence fee, and yet no-one whinges about them.
If you want to see a less expensive trailer search out the current top gear one
