@Chisel57 The Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, et al would never have existed if it wasn't for American soul and rock and roll music, which inspired all of them to form bands. Every British artist in the 60s made pilgrimages to the US to learn the art, from Howlin Wolf, Smokey Robinson and anyone else who would teach them. They learned well, and showed greater appreciation for US black culture than many white Americans. They deserve credit, and made great music as a result.
@DandJRuffin One of my idiot friends was over and using my computer. I never made that comment. I don't like the tone. And you're right...besides which, most "European Daddies" don't own firearms. To me, the whole racial scene on both sides of the Atlantic was far too complex for easy, humorous generalizations. I do believe racism made James bitter, but that doesn't really say much in the end. James Brown was a very complex and difficult man...as many, but not all, geniuses are.
@papakilatube I guess you're mixing up things. Back in the sixties when black performers were welcome in most European countries, they would have been shot for getting that close to white girls in the U.S. not in the UK ...
I saw James Brown in the England, he was OK but I didn't stay till the end. I wouldn't go on the World Wide Web and 'dis' a country that is my nations greatest ally. Not only do we understand everything about Soul and Blues, Rock, Pop and Punk we are proud of being British and are well aware that friendship is something that can be taken back as well as given.
Well papakilatube, what planet are you from? The best popular music was made in Great Britain and the best bands in the world come from here too. Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Who, Led Zep, Police, Blur, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Clapton, Cold Play etc, etc.
