I just picked them up, May 31, 2009. A very odd time to have fox tree squirrels in my area of this age. They are generally born January/February then again in July/August. I've been told they could have three litters a year so it would make sense that a third litter would be born now. I'm a wildlife rehabilitator. They will be released back to the wild. These babies had been crying for a while so they are tired.Generally their cry is so high pitched that I can never record it on video. I think I recorded it this time because they were tired and cried more quietly. It's generally an ear piercing sound. In real life it sounds different than this video. You're missing the super high pitched ear splitting tone and just hearing the lower range of sound.I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. • Mary - how old do grey squirrels have to be before they can eat solid food?

  • @BMWBiker2 We start giving them little pieces of peeled grapes, apple, avocado as soon as their eyes open. They just suck on it at first. In a few days they will bite a piece of food then spit it out. In another day or so they learn to swallow it. They make a big ole mess in the beginning just like human babies.

  • doesn't touching them and leaving your scent on them prevent them from surviving in the wild, or does that only make their mother abandon them?

  • @CrazyRedLove Their mom was killed by a dog. Touching a baby will not keep mom from taking them back if she is alive. Thanks.

  • When do they get fluffy tails?

  • @xthrowdownx06 They get fluffy around 12 weeks of age.

  • may 31 is my b-day

  • @CrazyRedLove No, that is 100% false.

  • @AmericanPitbulls1 what can I do to help her without breaking any law or stuff but at the same time I went ahead and called my local wildlife rehaber and ranger never knew I had one but anyways the ranger said he thinks my dad is right that she needs to be out of pain but not like that he came and took a look she was nowhere to be found he said if I did not see her to take the young put them in a box with blankets should I go ahead and not wait to take the kids.

  • @MaryCummins I am a 12 year old girl and have recently found that a squirrel had a litter but I am worried it is very cold and we have gotten a lot of really cold rain and mom did not protect them as normal and I just noticed she is missing a paw well actually it is dangling horrifically she is now coming slower and slower and coming to care for her young less and less they are still a good body condition and healthy but my dad says pretty soon he may have to shoot her what can I do

  • CUTE!

  • @MaryCummins I had one, same situation the mom has eaten by a owl. We called her bubbles, raised her(since she was a baby) and released her, she still comes and visits us.

  • i feel bad for the mom curse that dog
