This prototype John Deere Snowmobile was largely believed to be an urban legend until Polaris engineer Aaron Johnson arranged to have it brought to a vintage snowmobile show in 2010. This was John Deere's first IFS sled - but it never went into production when Polaris bought out John Deere's snowmobile division in the early 1980's. It had been hidden away in deep storage ever since.
@s10dreamer I believe they are more similar to what Ski Doo used on the Stratos/Escapade/Voyager series sleds then the Yamaha's.

I can help you out with info on your sled, but I can't seem to post my e-mail address here or the jdsleds web site.

It looks simular to what Yami built from 80-96, but inside it was totally differant. Deere used a coil over shock inside the structural strut vs. a shorter version of a motorcycle fork. Kawi built a proto using a strut also...

Looks just like the Yamaha pogo stickers of days gone by.

Thats has to be worth a fair bit. The struts look similar to Yamaha's design they used on the phazers and exciters.
