So today I was in Heidelberg, Germany hanging out with Tavin15 and he took me to have what has previously held the record for strongest beer in the world, Vetter 33. It's only served in small (for Germany) glasses and according to Wiki is 10.5% alcohol. It tastes like Guinness with a couple of tablespoons of sugar mixed in, and has almost no bubbles.

  • is he old enough to drink beer

  • @AlexTemp3 The drinking age for beer without a parent present in Germany is 16, so yep.

  • SEE? I missed this one too! I LOVE BEER! Damn. that sounds awesome!

  • Haha! Yeah, it was worth a try, but I wouldn't crawl over broken glass for it. One of my best beer experiences was at a pub in Belgium that had 2000 beers available (video pulled due to copyright). I'll have to come over to WI & sit down with you and Gary for a long evening or two. Couldn't make it to the airshow at Oshkosh this year - will have to try harder next year.

  • was heißt denn stammgrütze auf englisch?

  • Got it. It means 'original gravity' and is a measurement of the sugar content before fermentation.

  • @zebidee55 oh didnt know.

  • I don't know - I can't find a translation for it anywhere. Sorry.

  • They definitely have weird beers in Europe, but I normally live in Australia and we have it ice cold the same way as you guys.

Funny coincidence - I was up in the Philippines two weeks ago (working at Clark and in Manila on the way out) and I was drinking San Mig while I was there. I know it from PNG and sometimes you see it here in Australia as well. Really good stuff!

  • I see, just curious about it. here in philippines you won't sell any kind beer if you serve in that way.. all of them should be in ice cold.. how I wish could try one of yours.. I know great beers found in Europe, how I wish I could travel there and check out variety of beers.. we have the famous beer also here in the Philippines it's called "San Miguel Beer" pretty sure if u tried one you'll hooked on it speaking of the "the taste".. budweiser has nothing to say on that I guarantee you.. ;-)
