  • That truly is a great regret...he was awesome to watch. I was working at the Right Track Inn when they were weekly regulars. Then they started playing other places on the Island like Oak Beach Inn and another place in Amytiville area...name escapes me now but he certainly was an undiscovered gem!

  • @gigi Your grandpa was avery talented man and unfortunately did not get the recognition he should have gotten. He is missed by many!

@rocodogg - he also has a live CD which is pretty good as well the name escapes me now

  • What a monster Buster was. Tragically underappreciated and recorded. He regularly tore it up on the south shore Long Island circuit for many decades, places like the OBI South; Right Track Inn, Dakota Rose, etc. B.B. King even said he's the only musician who could fill his shoes. Sorely missed.

    Many thanks for this post!!!

  • @gottohavesoul ...yes he truly was underappreciated and overlooked for sure. I hope to post more of his songs as I believe I have all the albums commercially available.

  • @MrLucRad You where working with my cousin then

  • I owned a little bar in Westbury called McCormack's Pub, Buster and the soul brothers played there monthly. What an incredible player and entertainer. One Saturday night right after new Years Eve we had a bad snowstorm only about 30-40 people showed up the bandf played one set then left buster asked me for a stool and a spot light. He put a hat on the floor and just started playing all alone I have never seen or heard music like that again RIP My Friend.. Lot's of "cheeseburgers" - Brian Finn

  • I have not thought of Buster and the boys in about 30 years! Thanks Buster for lighting my fire night after night...God Bless.

  • I had the privilege & fun of playing organ in his band for just a couple of weeks, at a place (can't remember its name) up on 'Spinney Hill", a little east of Manhasset - north side of L. I. - late 60's - before he played guitar. Only white person in this crowded, jumpin' Sat/nite place - & that included staff, patrons, and the band (a new perspective!) and feeling like I'd gone to R&B/Soul heaven play'g behnd his sing'g. Sorry for your & the world's loss, Gigi. He luv'd sing'g "Nine Lb Steel"

  • I was in this band for 10 years and had a blast OBI, Crawdaddy's, Sonny's place, The C-Note aka Carol's place. Gigi, I remember when you were concieved, ask your mom and dad, it is a funny story. It was on my wedding night, they were at my wedding,

  • They were great. I remember during their last set at the Right Track they would let other musicians sit in. I did that once or twice. Good Times.

  • Buster played at our wedding - When a Man Loves a Woman was "our song" - nobody's ever done it better! RIP Buster; condolences forever to Mary

  • I played with him for years and nobody even told me he passed like Al Levy? Buster wasn't hanging around the right people!

  • I remember Buster mostly for his cohesiveness with the audience. He loved playing for people and was always appreciated in kind. I remember one night standing next to him at the Dakota Rose (in Amityville)...he said "We're gonna burn it up tonight!" And sure enough he had one of his speakers start smoking. I said "Buster, your speaker's on fire." But that didn't phase him...played until it quit and then acoustically. A real bluesman, and a gentle kind soul. R.I.P. -Mike Sachs (Lebanon, Missouri)
