THE GLOBOS hit big at Sydney's legendary KINSELAS cabaret in 1982. Here they are lip synching to the Fifth Dimension's AQUARIUS/LET THE SUNSHINE IN - the opening number of their last show, GLOBOS SHOCK! This 1986 lineup features MARK TREVORROW, WENDY DE WAAL, JANE MARKEY, NELL SCHOFIELD, TRACEY CALLANDER and the late TIM CONIGRAVE.

THE GLOBOS, a musical comedy cabaret group, was founded in Melbourne in 1980 by MARK TREVORROW and WENDY DE WAAL. The group mimed old records and commercials, in a loving and hilarious recreation of early Australian TV pop shows, and then recorded (and mimed!) their own material. They signed to Mushroom Records in 1982 and achieved two Australian Top 20 hits: TINTARELLA DI LUNA (1982) & THE BEAT GOES ON (1983).

Took it down - copyright warning! :-(

  • mark, i never realised you and tim conigrave worked together. do you know where there are any pictures of he and john? there's not much online and stuff like this is fantastic. did you know john yourself?

  • I did know John (he was beautiful) - and sadly i don't have a pic of them together.

  • Whoa Tim Conigrave almost nude!! Wow. I've only heard about him because of his book...We did a promotion for it about four years ago in a bookshop I used to work in. I think I'm gna go read it again now...It's kinda weird to see him in the flesh. What an amazing guy, and what a wonderful story. If only he was still around :-( On a better note, Mark's the only one not in a dress!!

Btw everyone go read "holding the man!!" now!!

  • He was an amazing guy. Totally brilliant, hilarious, charismatic and unique. Sorely missed by his family and friends.

    :-(

  • @bobdowne4real and @vulcane210 - if you do a search for alphabrett and timothy conigrave, there are some pics there from an Outrage article in 1997 of both Tim and John together :)

  • Thanks for posting this video. Really interested to see Tim Conigrave - recently read his book Holding the Man and saw the excellent stage play at Trafalgar Studios in London.

Many thanks - any more of him?

  • who plays the bass in this?

  • yes sorry he sung "this is the dawning of the age of a hairy arse" - glad it gave you a laugh! Now my husband has taken on the role of taking my fav songs and giving them 'alternative lyrics' - love and light Susan in Tasmania

  • dawining of hairy arse? hahaha its so funny.... it made my day reading that hehehe... sooooooooooooooooo cute heheh love ur dad :P

  • I have no moving pictures of Tim (was about to write moving images, but they're all moving now) so this is a treasure.

    xy

  • Always one of my favourite songs.....so I hated it when my Dad would deliberately sing it wrong with....'this is the dawning of a hairy arse!'...parents can be so embarrassing when you are young!!!!!

  • What a fab song!!! I wish I could find the version of this that you did on British telly years ago, It may have been on Viva cabaret, I used to have it on VHS and it never failed to make me smile...great stuff.
