Hey Jazz Guy.....

Just had a few questions about some of the lines. G A Ab F# G G# A G G# A Bb C B. I'm unsure about how you're approaching each note. Those first three notes G A Ab approaching the G by a scale tone than a chromatic, than the F# approaches the G from a half step below. How exactally do you exlplain the G G# A G G# A Bb bit? Or does that just come under the banner of "using half steps and whole steps from wherever you are?Than C approaches B from a half step above. How would you explain it?

@jesser101090 Thanks for your question...The idea all traces back to approaching CHORD TONES chromatically. So if you place chord tones on the strong beats, then fill in the gaps with the standard half-step above/below then combinations of whole and half steps above and below to make the line more "wandering" sounding. The key is to keep the chord tones and diatonic notes on the strongest beats.

I have a question about articulation...
Do you ever use that off-beat, bebop style articulation, or do you not even worry about articulation at all? I find that playing slightly behind the beat gives me a good sound, but I'm just wondering what you recommend to make your playing sound more "jazzy."
