The water heater did have water in the system in the metal braided flex line before it was removed. The entire copper line was replaced at the hot water tank in the video and there was no water in the copper line at all. Any water in the house that tried to go backwards would end up in the laundry tub. Any water coming off the main shut off valve would exit through the side of the house for a garden hose not allowing it to reach the pipes on the ceiling.
