I get a lot of purple fringing when I shoot birds... because often the bird is in a tree with a bright sky as a background... the high contrast from the bird to the bright background results in this particular type of CA. Regardless of the lens one thing you can do to help combat purple fringing is "stopping down" or adjusting the f-stop of your lens to its "Sweet spot" or close... usually f8 to f11.

Thank you that was very helpful right when I need it, NOW!
Good-quality lenses will still create CA in your images, but cheaper ones will create much more.
