There is a "begging" phase birds get to where they do the behavior no matter what because they know it earns a treat, when that happens, you can implement your own cue and only reward when your do your cue first and the behavior is then done correctly.
Hey thats a cool trick. I've been trying to teach my cockatiel to do it. We have gotten to the stage where i will cue him or her but i have to present my hand before it waves. What is a good way to start fading out my hand?
I've got Sarge doing that now, and he will grab my finger and hold it. I'm working with him on that "shake" cue and he's getting to realize that and saying "hello" means Pine Nuts! :)
can i be your pet? *.*
