Barenaked ladies song One Week translated in American sign language. This is an interpretation. I do not claim any rights to the song. I made this one at the request of a youtube user's son who uses sign language. I changed all of the names into made up name-signs because the lyrics are soo fast and, at times, nonsensical.

  • Amazing! Now I will add you to my lists that who did good job annd ASL for music! Mejore533, ewitteborg, tiffanythill, and kmklined. Im deaf and I been looking around the youtube to find more. =) I think you just maybe beat ewitteborg for 1st place. XD

    ~KrazyDeafy

  • @KrazyDeafy Ha! Thanks so much! That's a fantastic compliment for such a silly video ;) I think ewitteborg still has me beat by a longshot, but I'll bask in the praise all the same. Glad you liked it! :)

  • This looks really impressive and I'm really interested in learning ASL but I was wondering where you learned this? Are you deaf or did you study ASL? I'm just curious how accurate this is so when I sign for my friends I know it's not really sloppy and I'm not showing them the wrong signs.

  • @ellanjulia1993 If you're looking at this as a literal word for word translation for you to learn ASL from, you're looking at it the wrong way. His ASL is amazing, very grammatically accurate for ASL and conceptual, which means if you don't understand ASL grammar and the simple nuances of his expression it's not going to come across well. ASL is more than copying handshapes. I'd suggest learning some basic word signs and studying some grammar before signing songs

  • @Catwalksymphony Thanks :D

  • @ellanjulia1993 I'm hearing. I took a few classes, but the best way to learn is to get out in the community and meet native signers. Don't try to learn from youtube. Please. pretty please. There are a LOT of videos labeled "ASL" that aren't in any way close to ASL. Watch kmklined, tiffanythill, and ewitteborg

  • AMAZING DUDE!!! And Barenaked Ladies to top it all....amazing skills. Props to you!

  • @mejore533 ;) I dont means just only for this video. I meant for all your videos that i had watched! I just fell in love with it! =) It all thanks to Awti for uploading that video with you in it! I do really enjoy it a lot and I will be sharing this with my friends and teachers. =P

  • That was fantastic! I was extremely skeptical going in, but my goodness. That was quite inspirational really. It's a level a skill I would some day love to achieve. (I've been learning for about 1.5-2 years, and am pretty well involved in the Deaf Community.)

You're also totally the kind of person I'd want to meet and pick your brain.

Someday I'll be skilled enough to sing some of my favorite songs...... someday......

  • Ha! So much fun. Re-record without the stop action. You don't need it. ;) Really enjoyed your translation. Thanks for sharing!

  • Phenomenal. 0_0

  • @mejore533 *nods* Even understanding ASL grammar doesn't make one able to achieve this level of awesomesauce. My signed songs are ridiculously PSE. *shrug*

  • LOL! Very nice! I'm impressed!

  • Cute guy, you are! ;)
