Snowshoe Cats Go Walkies

Nevada and Noodles are getting more and more confident with their harness and leads. Today we took them into the garden to sniff the fallen leaves.

What treats did you give them?

@marafi - .... eventually, once we were sure they we completely happy in the harness and on the lead, we took them outside, again for a few minutes at a time. We use various treats, all of them are regular cat treats.

Brilliant. How long did it take for them to get used to them??

@marafi - we started putting them into their harness jackets from 18 weeks old (they are now seven and a half months old). At first they hated them and wouldn't even stand up in them. We continued to put them in the harness for 5 minutes every day and rewarded them with treats. Eventually they were happy to take a few steps in them and by walking away from them and rewarding them with treats for coming to us they got used to them. Next we got them used to the lead in the same way....

Hi! They both do so well with the harness. Amazing! And how fast they have grown! Both Nevada and Noodles are so beautiful! Do you let them walk on their own sometimes too? They're both indoor kitties I guess? Love, Dominique & mommy.

Cute! : ) Our cat Gracie is also trained to go outside on a harness.

Definitely safer than letting them go outside alone.
