Three weeks on since the emergency response to help the people affected by Typhoon Ketsana (local name Ondoy), World Vision exceeds its target and has distributed food and non-food aid to more than 20,000 families or 100,000 families in the hardest hit areas of Marikina, Cainta, Pasig, and Rizal. It has also established seven (7) Child-Friendly Spaces and served almost 4,500 children in the major identified schools and evacuation centers including the ULTRA stadium. Vast challenges remain after serving food and survival kits, as World Vision relief ops continue and looks further into addressing the increasing health threats and unsanitary conditions in the flooded communities (until today), the need for a massive clean-up drive in the major devastated areas, and succeeding typhoons which have hampered relief operations. However, World Vision is grateful for the thousands of volunteers (including the Coast Guard, PNP, and the Marines), sponsors, corporate donors, and like-minded partners who have joined us and have kept coming in bringing encouragement and hope to our people in great need.
