I remember Marsh against Birmingham City when playing for City and he tried an extravagant chip over the keeper instead of taking an easy chance. I don't think he was ever really a team player and probably the reason he didn't for England as many times as he should.

Marsh and Bowles. Both played for Man City. Both had their best times at QPR.

Rodney Marsh went to my old primary School in Norf London. But then again so did Ron 'chopper' Harris! Rodney was a great player, but played when kickers were tolerated and skilled ball players could be kicked out of a game. Don Revie and the FA have a lot to answer for.
Stan Bowles, Duncan Mackensie, Frank Worthington, Alan Hudson, Tony Currie - all were great players and would be have been fantastic in the modern premiership but never really got a fair crack of the whip in their time.
