Music video of "Girlfriends" - from Irene's 1987 'Carasmatic' album
Irene's mother Louise (white hair & glasses) makes a cameo at the beginning and end of the video, along with Erica Gimpel, who played Coco Hernandez in the TV version of Fame.

  • I knew there was video floating around out there somewhere with the two Coco's!

  • Never saw this video before. Well, that was... cheesy. I love Irene Cara, but that was really low budget for that era. Did anyone notice how her jersey says "CarAsmatics" on one side, and CarIsmatics on the back?

  • Ha the one roller derby team has the colors of Pitt Meadows Senior Secondary... and the opposing red team Ridge in BC. Rival teams for most everything. LOL to the people that made the video.

  • i have always considered myself one of irene cara's biggest fans, but this song makes my ears bleed, and the video makes my eyes wish they were my ears.

  • Never knew this existed!!! Irene Cara & Erica Gimpel together is phenomenal!!! Sure wish this was released on DVD with all these other great videos Irene made that I never knew existed! Would love to see them all in digital clarity.

  • Technically this is R&B, just not the way they make them today.

  • Like her singing , like her acting, like her looks, and she's fan-friendly. Wish there are more black artists like her..these days. Want more of disco, pop-rock, new-wave, rock, gothic black arists, instead of R&B & RAP crap. Thanks.

  • I'm not sure, but that looks like G. Duke playing the referee at 2:53.

  • If this was the first single, now I understand why the album disappeared literally a few days after it's release. This is so cheesy. And George Duke produced this???

  • ERICA GIMPEL Irecarashrine, it's ERICA GIMPEL not Erica Gumbell ahahahahahah, must a big typing mistake well it happens ;')
