An overflow crowd which police estimated at about 1,000 people
greeted U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas's open forum in Chelmsford Saturday morning. The Town Hall gymnasium was closed after it reached its capacity of 220. The sometimes raucous crowd inside had questions.

  • Typically American..

  • 1-19-2010 the face of Massachusetts politics changed. This arrogant political hack will be next.

  • I really admire the congresswoman's composure against what is sometimes an unruly mob. The woman crying over her parents with Blue Cross is either an actress paid by the insurance industry or a complete idiot in need of some good drugs- she should see a mental health provider.

  • Sounds to me like Wishard Advantage [a primary care/medi-care insurance covers medical ,dental,*eye even thou they tell you your limited * your covered with co pay! offered to all unemployed to employed !

( Wishard Hospital Indy, In ) has the same dam thing available to everyone on a sliding scale . and you wait and wait and wait for care , *maybe !* unfortunitly to many ppl die in this hospital and its the hospitals fault !

  • I think this congress woman is brainwashed and actually believes she is trying to help people by passing this bill

  • Govt. managed HC plan in Britain led expansion of their system such that it is now the 3rd largest employer (after Chinese army and Indian Railways). Any talk about change to remove inefficiencies leads to talks about loss of livelihood/jobs. We DONT want to link quality of HC with loss of livelihood. U cannot provide the best since that may involve removing off inefficient departments. A double whammy! Thats downright immoral.

  • Market controlled healthcare systems are competitive by nature. Hence the number of innovations/breakthroughs from those systems are far more in number than from state-controlled ones. The govt. controlled health-care programs always end up squeezing the private programs by havingthose deficit-financed/subsidized in the first few years and thus kill all competition. The best example is that of the govt.-managed British health-care system.

  • Obama clearly mentioned that he either will introduce newtaxes or get the money from other avenues for any universal plan. Americans pay enough in taxes, how an added tax can help?

The govt. managed programs like Medicare, etc have proven to be financially not sustainable. Given this and the track-record of govt. performance of managing health-care for the last 40+ years, how can the govt. role be promoted to handle health-care for all Americans?
