This video was recorded of me playing my cardboard ukulele. I built this Uke for a contest at Instructables.com. The song I'm playing is "House of the Rising Sun" as interpreted for the Ukulele by Ukulele Mike.

Instructions for building your own carboard ukulele can be found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Playable-Cardboard-Ukulele/

If you build one, I expect a video in response (or at least a picture)! :D

  • @RuTemple the frets are cotter pins. I sanwiched the top layer of the fingerboard with the cotter pins. Some of them didn't stay down well enough, so glued them down, but once I did that, it has worked fabulously.

  • could a tenor be made with the same proportions?

  • @narutosaenz As the uke gets bigger, the string tension goes up. At first I was trying to keep the loads down by making the smallest uke I could, but that thing feels very strong, so I think you could make a tenor.

  • Glorious! What'd you use for frets? Those look more like cotter pins than fretwire... wonderful and great sound, besides.
