the whole dirt grows hair thing i think comes from girls seeing guys grow their hair all the time and its long and guys dont wash their hair often thats what i think that came from cuhz i used to think that but as u did i got used to washing my hair every sunday i cannot stand going over a week

@BrandiKBeddingfield ok well i understand where your coming from and you are right. african america as you kno is very different , yes it is bc of the curl. and on all hair types it is slightly damaging when hair is washed with shampoo that lathers only bc it strips natural oils(which is needed). anywaysss afr-amer hair doesnt get as greasy so there is no reason to overly wash your hair and strip oils if you dont need to.well i hope that answers you question:)

@BrandiKBeddingfield Being an African American woman, we have to maintain moisture in our hair. Washing more than once a week will strip hair of its moisture which will cause breakage and damage.

@skyup28there Yeah, I could see why you wouldn't want to strip the hair of it's natural oils when your head doesn't produce as much, I know my head gets oily within a couple of hours after washing it. That makes perfect sense! Thanks :)

i came up with this plan of: relaxe my hair, use a ponytail for two weeks, then wash, then put in twist braids for a 3 weeks or 4 weeks, then relaxe again. do you think this will work with my prducts. I use herbal essence 2-in-1 (blue bottle) suave for damaged hair. organic by african best mayonaisse D.P.T, i used to used infusium leave-in-conditioner, havent gotten that back in a year. cantu leave in conditioner, blow dry, then use organics olive oil hair lotion.

I'm not being racist in any kind of way. I was just wondering why you only washed your hair once a week. Are there disadvantages to washing your hair daily being an african american? I got to thinking it might be because of the texture. I know how frustrating it is to have even a little bit of curl. It's a pain to style curly hair in my opinion, i wish my hair would just be naturally straight as a board.
