BGRA 2009
ALL-STAR BASEBALL FESTIVAL
National Anthem Soloist
A very special thanks to Mr. Sonne, Mr. Leibovitz, Al, Newt...for letting my voice students sing their first public National Anthem. This was my first baseball game and it was beyond words to think of how much my Dad would have loved being there. There was a cool breeze furling the flag on the field, parents and grandparents with their fold-out chairs, coolers, hats, insect repellant...so ready to celebrate their child's ability to participate in a team. When the audience stood and took all colors of hats off and placed their hands over their hearts, it truly felt patriotic and knowing. It seemed that it took a lot of effort for BGRA to organize and mobilize everyone to make it to this day and have it come off so beautifully. No matter where everyone originated or what we owned or didn't, we were together. It was simply, love and thankfulness as I sang from our collective hearts. Thanks for the honor and I am very moved and impressed with what the BGRA does for our community's children. WOW!
